Our fonder, Mike Havener was an early Internet adopter and began creating web sites in 1995, before a lot of folks had even heard of the Internet. By the time Internet Service Providers were becoming widely available and everybody had an email address, he saw the possibilities of eCommerce and the ability for even small business to leverage the power of the Internet.
While Contrails Software and Consulting realizes and targets the fact that the Internet is a big piece of our modern lives, we also recognize that it doesn't lend itself to all scenarios, simply because Internet connectivity isn't always available. We specialize in unique, customized user experiences and will work with you to provide the solution that best fits the needs of both you and your users.
Mike, who is also an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner and Certificated Flight Instructor, Glider created our first product based on the desires of other sailplane pilots. They wanted to record a 3D flight path based on GPS data that could be used for post-flight analysis. Further, they wanted this information, coupled with terrain, airspace and glider performance data to be available to the pilot in flight. He developed a Windows® CE (later adapted for Windows® Mobile platforms) application that would to generate an IGC data file that resembles the contrails left by high flying aircraft and Contrails Software and Consulting was born.
